Bug Description

I created a PDF with a transparant PNG embedded in it:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~bruijn9/temp/test_transparent_png_background.pdf

Using Evince on Ubuntu Breezy Badger, the image is shown with a black background.

I had a friend check the file on Mac OS X, and it displayed correctly there, so it's most probably a bug in Evince...

I forgot to add, that it naturally might be a bug in one of Evince's backend libraries, like libpoppler... I'm not sure...

Is your issue the same as described by https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3098?

Thanks for the fast response...

But it seems that's my issue indeed!

So it's not a bug, but a missing feature...

Anyway I'd really like to see image transparancy implemented. I don't really care whether it gets included into Breezy, but it would be nice to see it in Dapper (for example).

Regards,
Pascal de Bruijn

Updating the settings according to that, we will try to work with upstream to get that feature implemented for dapper

It might be an interrim solution to use white (instead of black) as the color to use for 'transparant pixels', this way it won't be so obvious in plain documents...

The CVS fix is for poppler cairo, the example of that bug works already fine with poppler splash and I switched the dapper package to splash today, that fixes the issue
