Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

Upon login, a box titled 'Out of space', which has the following words: 'Your Ubuntu One storage is full. Follow the link below to upgrade your subscription.' appears and disappears rapidly (i.e. it 'flashes') for approximately 20 seconds. I have not found a way to stop this process. Other things to note are:
- My ubuntu one storage space is indeed full (ideally I need to be only told this once).
- I have a seperate partition which I mount as my /home directory (the idea being I can install system files in a different partition to make installing a new release easier).
- The reason for thinking this has something to do with 'gnome-settings-daemon' is this was the process that was most intensive on the CPU (with nothing else being opened).
- The process stays on top even when other programs are opened.

Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

Thankyou

Another note:
- After the box finishes flashing, I click close and it doesn't bother me again.

After upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10 I now receive a pop up box saying out of space. My Ubuntu One account is not full and has never been close to full.

Same here. Notification box flickers on login. Account has maybe 200Mb in it.

Seems to be an authentication issue. If I run u1sdtool --status it tells me it isn't connected. If I run u1sdtool --connect, it pops up the 'Please Register new account' dialog. If I then go to "I've already got an account' and put in my details, the dialog disappears. But u1sdtool --status still says not connected and u1sdtool --connect runs the dialog box again.

I can login via the web interface using the same credentials at one.ubuntu.com

There is no entry in System > Preferences > Passwords and Keys for Ubuntu One. Perhaps its not saving the login details?

I have the same problem, but not the same symptoms as Plutocrat describes. My login settings appear to be saved OK (i.e., I'm not prompted for my password at any time and there is an entry in Passwords and Encryption Keys) but I still get the flashing dialogue box on each startup. My account has about 150 MB inside.

As of 21/10/2010 with my computer fully upgraded, this problem still exists. I have tried reducing my Ubuntu One storage space to below 2 gb but that does not fix the problem. 'Ubuntu One' is visible for me under default password keys.

As a work around, to avoid this annoying people on startup, if you uncheck the box 'Ubuntu One' in 'Startup Applications' (System -> Preferences).

I get this same error, and I don't even have any Ubuntu One storage space!

affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) → ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu)

I got the same error after a clean 10.10 install. At the time the OS didn't have enough info to know whether I had an Ubuntu One account or not. In fact I do and have storage available. The work around from Charlie above to remove Ubuntu One from the start up list is helpful (Thanks).
