Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Edge Flip was, AFAIK, disabled by default in Lucid, so I enabled it myself using CompizConfig Settings Manager and it worked.

But when I upgraded to Maverick, Edge Flip was disabled and it doesn't work even when I enable it in the Desktop Wall plugin/Edge Flipping tab.

I.E. Even though I enable the Edge Flip in CompizConfig Settings Manager by marking the checkboxes, the system acts as if I hadn't.

I can reproduce this bug in a fresh Maverick install with compiz 0.8.6 from the ubuntu repos. Edge flipping works with the cube, but not with desktop wall. Was working w/o problems in Lucid, though. Video adapter is an ATI Radeon HD 4250.

I did some changes to edge flipping. What kind of edge flipping is not
working? Edge flipping just with the mouse pointer or edge flipping
while dragging a window or an icon?

Sam,
Edge flip whilst dragging windows works fine.
It is edge flip with mouse scroll on the edges which does not work.
I can make mouse flip work on the desktop (not the edge) with a <key modifier>+<button{4,5}>

Edge flip (scroll wheel) has not worked for some time.

I am still, after all these years, confused as to which is the correct plugin to use. Viewport switcher, or rotate cube...

Cheers

Hi Sam,

It might be worth looking at this comment I just posted on Bug 771448: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/771448/comments/5

The gist is that it seems like the edge-flip-pointer behavior described there and the edge-flip-on-mouse-button stuff we're talking about here are currently interacting in unexpected/undesirable ways.
