Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-control-panel

Trying to sign into Ubuntu One from a relative fresh install on new computer (had to do upgrade from maverick as natty installer doesn't like my Lemur Ultrathin). Sign in process spun for quite a while, then gave up with the wacky error in summary:

"'NoneType' object has no attribute 'makefile'"

Hi Jason,

Thanks for helping us making Ubuntu One better. The error you're getting is coming from a lower layer, it basically means that a network connection timeout. Are you having network issues? Is this still happening?

It's working now, so it does seem to be caused by network troubles.

However, I still consider this a bug... the failure should be more graceful, provide an error message that is more user friendly and helpful.

Thanks!

I am having a similar issue. I'm guessing my corporate net proxy is causing the issue. The proxy requires authentication and I am not getting a prompt from Ubuntu One when it tries to make the connection.

I have configured the proxy client and it works for most things but it usually prompts for authentication even though I have supplied the information in the"Details" option. I run into similar issues with many apps the try to connect to the network. Even with the authentication information supplied the apps seem to ignore them making the proxy option nearly useless.

I wish there was an option for it to pass my username and password from logging into the computer as we utilise single sign-on anyway.

I also have similar issue, my internet is behind an authenticated proxy server.
There is no option to input proxy username and password.

Hello all!

Thanks for helping us making Ubuntu One better. Sadly, Ubuntu One does not work behind a proxy yet.

We're planning on supporting proxy soon, you can subscribe to bug #387308 to
keep track on the progress in that front.

Thanks, Natalia.
