Bug Description

Since it seems Unity doesn't use menus, there should be a menu entry in the onboard.desktop file to show in the menu for Xfce. The entry is simple to do, and will allow Onboard to always be available in the Xubuntu menu. Please add the following to the .desktop menu :

OnlyShowIn=XFCE;

This change will allow Xubuntu users who need an onscreen keyboard to always have one available.

I support this request, I have a wireless keyboard and sometimes when its batery dies I still need to use the keyboard.

Obviously I can Not launch it from a terminal, that would be really silly, and not having it on the menus its quite annoying.

the Ubuntu patch that removed it from the menu is not present in the Oneiric package and onboard does appear now in the unity applications lens, so I expect this to work just fine in xubuntu Oneiric

Why you expect that? Onboard has appeared in the development release menus for at least two releases now. Unfortunately, the Ubuntu patch gets applied right before the final images, which makes that invalid. This time, please change the desktop file before final images, so that at least Xubuntu can have this valuable application in the menu, where it should always be.
