Could you please try switching to another server in the software sources (click settings on the update-manager window) and see if it helps?

If the suggestion of Robert doest not work, please also attach the logs found in /var/log/dist-upgrade to further diagnose the problem.

I execute "update-manager -d" from shell.

The following info windows were displayed, text of the windows as below :

---------- Message Window 1 ----------------------

Third party sources disabled

Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can
re-enable them after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or
your package manager.

----------- Message Window 2 -------------------------
Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be
caused by held packages.

  This can be caused by:
  * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal.

--------------------

I have no clue if any of the above reason are applicable to my installation.

Could you let me know if I have to do anything different.

regards

@Manoj K: Could you please attach the logs found in /var/log/dist-upgrade to further diagnose the problem, as Walter has requested? The problem is probably the mirror you are using to get the updates from.
