Empathy chat window has broken styles in default install of ubuntu 11.10.

i have seen the screenshot can you please attach the xsession error with the bug and can explain more about it than how it happen like if you directly open chat than or when you are chatting than this hapen.

I've found a workaround that maybe can lead you to the bug source. I've opened empathy preferences window, the tab with theme selector.

When I've opened it, the dropdown with theme name was set to "Ubuntu", but the sample in the window below was broken. I've just switched from the Ubuntu theme to another one, then switched back to "Ubuntu" and everything now works ok.

Seems that it could be related to default settings that ship with empathy package that point to incorrect style?
