SD card writing very slow

Bug Description

In lava, when we try to deploy some images, the part where we write the rootfs to the sd card takes so long that the test times out. I increased the timeout to 1.5 hours and it still times out. Nano sometimes seems to finish, but others that are a bit larger such as alip and ubuntu-desktop typically expose this.

typo: s/origen/snowball/

The issue is snowball specific. It takes 90+ to write the rootfs.
On other boards, it doesn't take anywhere remotely close to that.

Philippe Langlais from STE has been working on a 3.1 kernel that seems to be much better in terms of mmc access. This kernel will be available for the 2011.12 release.

This bug happens in v.3.0 of the kernel. V3.1 has a much better driver, which should resolve this bug. Moving the kernel to v3.1 is dependent on whether we can fix the USB bug (#894828) or not.

The Landing Team does not intend on fixing this bug in 3.0 kernel.

anmar: fabo, dzin, this issue is now fixed with the more recent 3.1 and 3.2 kernels.

This issue is no longer a concern now that the STELT has moved the kernel to 3.1 + releases. I will mark this as invalid fort he LAVA team
