Bug Description

No matter if I launch synaptic from a menu, a terminal or the unity shell. No matter If I launch it as superuser or not. No matter if I launch it under gnome-shell, unity or a classic gnome session. It always crashes. If I run it form terminal it will print before exiting:

 terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
  what(): vector::_M_range_check

However, if I try to run it from the recovery console, it works!

I had the same problem on oneiric.
The solution, which worked for me, after looking at other similar (segfault) bugs was to reinstall gnome-orca (I had removed it not so long ago). I also switched the universal access screen reader and typing assistant on and off. Synaptic then started as it should and functioned correctly again.
I then removed gnome-orca again and synaptic still functions.
