Bug Description

I'd like some tags to make Ion Cannon clones (I think in Npatch it was just one Ion Cannon SW but I may be wrong) maybe something like this:

[IonCannonSpecial]
...
IonCannon.Damage=
IonCannon.Warhead=
IonCannon.Beam=
IonCannon.Ring=

Would be nice if it were hooked up to a superweapon type since it can be fired from a map trigger still. I'd also like to see the genetic mutator anim unlinked from the ion cannon ring animation.

I'm fairly certain that the GenericWarhead SW can replicate the Ion Cannon effect, if you are smart about it. Try playing around with it a bit, I'm sure you can get it right.

If someone has tried this and can report that for some reason this is not possible for any reason (or doesn't work exactly like an Ion Cannon) then feel free to correct me.

you could make an Ion Cannon SW with the GenericWarhead SW.
ripple code is already there.
just convert the anims from ts to ra2.
very easy.

My point was less that it isn't emulatable (a PsyDom colone can do it with the right additional controls) but that since a specific effect can already be fired from a map trigger it would be nice if it was uncoupled from the genetic mutator and could be caused by the player.

I strongly oppose this. A SuperWeapon that does [i]exactly the same thing[/i] as the Ion Cannon can already be made by using the GenericWarhead SuperWeapon type.

Strong support. I mean if it's ALREADY IMPLIMENTED to a degree what's the harm in allow it to be modded?

The Ion Cannon is already half implemented, while you could replicate it, it might be an easier task if you could clone it. The problem is animations, linking the beam, and what-not. You'd half to have a TD style Ion Cannon animation, where as the TS style is very different.

The point is, it isn't that hard to be implemented on the developer's perspective (not 100% sure on this but most of the code should be there) and it isn't like a 5 minute job for the anim, more like an hour or so.
