Backup Tool calculating takes very long time

Bug Description
When I do a backup of $HOME it first calculates before starting to copy files. This takes +10 minutes on my machine (just calculating). Bug?
find . | wc -l shows there are 65051 files
du -hs , 5,5G
Is it possible that the calculating part follows symlinks? Then I could understand why it takes so long (since I have my FS linked in my home.

Exluding some thumbnail-
