Gallery app uses graphics effects not supported by the software renderer and so will never work properly on Versatile Express. A workaround could be to use Gingerbread Gallery app? The video playback issue, if confirmed should probably be a separate bug report.

After click Gallery, all thumbnails showed up for 0.5 second then disappeared, only the first picture thumbnail left.

For vexpress board, also observed on Linaro Jelly Bean image:

Only the first picture thumbnail shows, others show as single color blocks, such like grey block, yellow block..., etc.

Thumbnails appear OK in the 13.01 release: https://android-build.linaro.org/builds/~linaro-android/vexpress-linaro-mp-13.01-release/#build=1

This could have be fixed by http://review.android.git.linaro.org/#change,3157 or the change to Android 4.2
