No, I ran "LC_ALL=C unity --replace" and it doesn't happen, though some strings are still in russian.

ignoring my last comment (since you clearly restarted unity with that command). I am going to go ahead and confirm this bug.

This bug is more or less existing if the system language is bulgarian. See the screenshot :P

Can someone tell me how I can switch to cyrillic/russian correctly so I can try to reproduce this?

Open "System Settings" than click on "Language Support". Next up click on "Install/Remove languages ..." and install Russian.
After you've done that reboot your system, again navigate to "language support" and apply Russian as system-wide language.
Than reboot again and you're done.
I believe that's it, through I'm not sure, I haven't used anything but English (UK) for god knows how long time ...

there's still an offset in the filter categories if we look closely. So I guess the issue is still there.

Is that dash needs an arbitrary font size to display well when not maximised?

p.s. if not mistaken it was a unity_5.2.0-0ubuntu2 all right

@Sam_: this bug still exists (and is highly visible) with Unity 5.2, and with default font configuration (gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface font-name => 'Ubuntu 11').

Thanks Dmitry. It only displays well with standard Ubuntu fonts, but not with custom font, neither on larger nor smaller monitor.

I'm very optimistic this bug will be solved. Thanks in advance.

Other 12.10 mockups look fine too.

Dash filter is now visible again when not maximized, but size numbers are gone. Before, one could select 1 MB, 10 MB and so on or did I miss something?

@Sam_ I believe that's a different bug. Good to know this one got fixed :)
