Bug Description

E:Malformed line 45 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse) Shows when I try to up date. Have not been able to update for weeks now! I am a beginner.
Also can not get softwear centre to work. It will not load. Helen
Ubuntu 11.10 32 bit
When wrote apt-cache policy pkgname it read unable to locate pkgname Can not open soft wear centre.

I had expceted update manager to run. It did not even finish checking when the error message can up.

There is something incorrect in line 45 of the file /etc/apt/sources.list, this is something you will need to investigate manually and resolve. The sources.list file is a collection of locations from which to install software and if update-manager isn't able to figure out what is in there then it can not work. If you need more help resolving this issue I'd use either the ubuntu forums or askubuntu.com. Thanks!
