Bug Description

Precise 32-Bit 3D up-to-date

When pressing ALT + F9 nothing happens (it should minimize the current window).
The other F-keys are working fine for me.

Confirmed this change was a Unity design decision (bug 878820, bug 891757). However another design decision (bug 751050) specifies that Unity should NOT be requiring a number pad for its shortcuts. So I think this particular keybinding still needs fixing.

If that's the case then you can add 'toggle_maximized' (Ctrl+Alt+KP-5
They do work here with the Fn key but I guess some don't have even that?
(users are free to change almost as desired though should be careful to avoid conflicts with any compiz plugins as there is no conflict check between metacity & compiz

Additionally, this change in behaviour comes without regard to the Keyboard Shortcuts System Settings applet, in which Alt-F9 remains listed (though ignored) as the shortcut to minimize a window. The applet doesn't list Ctrl+Alt+Numpad-0 at all.

@vanvugt; bug 751050 is about providing alternative keybindings for users who don't have a numpad. We still want to support numpad shortcuts as well, we just want to have non-numpad equivalents available where possible.

I am marking this bug as a dupe of bug #878820 because that is the bug that specifies the correct numpad window management behaviour (bug note bug #751050 also remains valid).
