Snowball: Setting Date and Time from settings menu fails.

Bug Description

Description:

On build:
https://android-build.linaro.org/builds/~linaro-android/snowball-ics-gcc46-igloo-stable-blob-12.04-release/#build=6

Setting date and time fails.

Go to Settings->Date and Time->Unselect "Automatic date & time" and Unselect "Automatic TIme zone"
Select Set time->change time to any value ->Select Set option
Observation: time does not change and remains on old time.
Same applies for changing Date as well.

Reproducible:

Yes, 5/5 time

IMPACT:
========
Basic functionality of setting date and time broken.

Steps:
=======

1. Bootup snowball.
2. Go to Settings->Date and Time->Unselect "Automatic date & time" and Unselect "Automatic TIme zone"
3. Select Set time->change time to any value ->Select Set option
Observation: time does not change and remains on old time.
4. Select Set date->change date to any value ->Select Set option
Observation: date does not change and remains set on old value

I didn't observe this on Panda build (https://android-build.linaro.org/builds/~linaro-android/panda-ics-gcc47-tilt-tracking-blob-12.04-release/#build=4) - so looks like snowball specific issue.

I haven't looked into this problem - Definitely not for 12.05.

It seems the alarm driver problem. It will show "Unable to open alarm driver" in logcat.

make enabled Android Alarm driver in kernel config, that is to set CONFIG_ANDROID_INTF_ALARM_DEV=y in .config file sovles this problem.

I downloaded the git tree( git://android.git.linaro.org/kernel/snowball.git), which has already added the alarm config information, while the release build didn't add the config information. So I think the release build comes from the different git tree.

This tree hasn't been updated since 2011-11-10.
Android build are using igloocommunity tree.
You can check that by looking at the manifest:
