Bug Description

During installation, it seems that Bumblebee did not recognize my computer. And after reboot, I tried optirun firefox and it complains that it cannot access the secondary GPU

[ 667.927041] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:1:0:0. Please

[ 667.927113] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

Lenovo has two graphic chips as I execute:
lspci -vnn | grep '\''[030[02]\]', it shows:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 630M] [10de:0de9] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

I still have the problem with my lenovo Y480
I installed bumblebee 3.0.1
The message I get is:

spiralni@Y480:~$ optirun --status
Bumblebee status: Error (3.0.1): [XORG] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:1:0:0. Please

Reading this link http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/304.43/README/commonproblems.html it says

Why does the VBIOS fail to load on my Optimus system?

On some notebooks with Optimus graphics, the NVIDIA driver may not be able to retrieve the Video BIOS due to interactions between the System BIOS and the Linux kernel's ACPI subsystem. On affected notebooks, applications that require the GPU will fail, and messages like the following may appear in the system log:

NVRM: failed to copy vbios to system memory.
NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed! (0x30:0xffffffff:858)
NVRM: rm_init_adapter(0) failed

Such problems are typically beyond the control of the NVIDIA driver, which relies on proper cooperation of ACPI and the System BIOS to retrieve important information about the GPU, including the Video BIOS.

is this bug closed? how can I reopen it... it clearly does not work in Lenovo Y480

This is not the place for such bugreports. BTW, you should apply the acpi-handle-hack from bbswtich repo.

affects: bumblebee → bumblebee-project
