Bug Description
Ideally the HPSS calls for Repository.check, Repository.pack and Repository.
bar updates back to the client, otherwise they will tend to look stuck for potentially long periods. In extreme cases we may hit idle
timeouts (especially if a memory-constrained server starts to hit swap to do a full pack of a large repo).
