i am affected by this bug, i've seen it countless time on arale/rc-proposed but i can't trigger it by opening the system settings

I don't think this is the problem... Can you instead attach the unity8.log that it's in ~/.cache/upstart ?

After my update to r872, I can not reproduce it by opening the system settings.

I attached the file ~/.cache/upstart/unity8.log from today.
During the whole day, the calendar was working. when I checked it again right now, it was not working anymore, without opening the systemsettings.

OK I found how to trigger it is quite simple it is due to rotating the phone

Device mako
Channel rc proposed bq channels r444

how to reproduce from a fresh boot
Login to your phone

Put yourself in portrait mode
open the dash on the time and date
 rotate to landscape = the dash does not rotate
 close the dash = unity 8 rotate to landscape
Rotate to portrait = unity8 rotate to portrait
Open the dash on time and date = calendar disappeared

You can bring it back by making sure you open the dash while you are in landscape mode
