Bug Description

http://www.compiz.org/ is unmaintained. It contains information that is simply wrong by current standards, eg. that Compiz 0.9.x is beta. It should redirect to https://launchpad.net/compiz instead.

Changed in compiz:
milestone: none → 0.9.8.0
status: New → Triaged
assignee: nobody → Sam Spilsbury (smspillaz)
importance: Undecided → Medium

Maybe it should be made really obvious that it's unmaintained, like by putting up a big/obvious link at the top of every page that this site is unmaintained, try this other site instead (followed by a url link)

With this note/link the old website could be used, but it won't be mistaken as easily for the current website for the current compiz version, and people will find the more maintained website.

(or, I suppose, that the compiz.org website could become maintained...)

My preferred solution is obviously that Compiz.org will be overhauled and become maintained again but I do not believe that Canonical is interested in paying for this.
Redirecting www.compiz.org to the Launchpad page (and maybe moving the old content to www-old.compiz.org or whatever) is the easiest way.

Changed in compiz:
milestone: 0.9.8.0 → 0.9.8.1
Changed in compiz:
milestone: 0.9.8.2 → 0.9.8.4
Changed in compiz:
milestone: 0.9.8.4 → 0.9.9.0
Changed in compiz:
milestone: 0.9.9.0 → 0.9.9.2
Changed in compiz:
milestone: 0.9.9.2 → 0.9.10.0

Hi all,

I was about submiting a bug about wrong info on compiz.org page and found this one.

The problem is that all websites are leading to compiz.org : first google results, wikipedia compiz page...

Also there are broken links in compiz.org, for example from http://wiki.compiz.org/HowtoSubmitBugReports
when you want to report a bug and click on the "bug database" link.

And the compiz.org website is increadibly slow...

But I think the biggest problem is that it's saying that the stable version is 0.8.8 !
Are you sure package maintaners are aware of the new version ? Because in archlinux the package is still in old version, and the same in debian unstable.

If you wish I can offer my help to archive the old website.

Thanks in advance,
Marc
