Display Dmedia status on the icon.

Can you provide a bit more detail on this?

If you're not using indicators (aka systray), I assume you're not using Unity, right?

One Unity we currently display:
 * Import active status via the indicator
 * Progress bar on the launcher icon

I believe this is the right design for Unity, and I think the correct way to make Dmedia fit better on other DE is to design something that fits for the other DE and have Dmedia detect at run-time which it should use.

Note that this isn't work that I have time for, but I'd happily accept a merge proposal for this, assuming it doesn't break anything on Unity and is high-quality, maintainable code.

Also note that the Unity-specific stuff in Dmedia is a *very* small amount of code. So although things haven't necessarily been abstracted to work with other DE yet, it wouldn't be much work for someone to do this. But it would take someone who really understands the best practices of whatever DE in question... expertise I don't have :)

Yes i don't use Unity. I despise the thing TBH. I am on e18 which has a taskbar/dock that displays the icons of the running apps. It has a systray but is hated by the E devs and there is a chance of removing it.

I have no idea what would be the "correct" way to do it on enlightenment -probably a module/gadget or something- but if there is interest in that someone can ask the devs. Displaying something like gear on the icon for when the importer is running would be OK i think. Not even a progress bar on the icon is necessary and i am not sure if its possible on E.

And it was not a thing that you "should" work on. It was just a suggestion. :) Think of it as a "nice to have" at some point, after novacut is ready for prime time.
