Bug Description

Users should be able to set the libnotify notification duration by either using a slider in the preferences window or setting a gconf variable. It usually takes me a second to realize that there is a notification popup in the corner and it always disappears before I can read it.

I've exaclty the opposite problem. Notifications popups don't go away until I click to close them. That leads me to think that the duration is already configurable somewhere, only I don't know *where*.

The duration is not configurable, nor do I know if it will. You're going to
need to present a very strong use case to get me to add more configuration.

There's no need to add UI elements to the preferences window: I think gconf-editor is already a complex thing and it won't suffer from the addition of such a property.

This report was asking for a slider in the prefs ui.

@Alex Launi: My main problems are with the twitter and the Remember The Milk plugins. I will often be reading or working on something else when a notification is displayed and will thus fail to notice the notification until it is about to disappear. I looked at the gnome-do code and found that the duration is set based on the number of words. The setting in either gconf or the preferences could simply change the per word duration.

@Lucio Crusca: Using gconf would be fine because most users wouldn't need to alter the duration of notifications.

As a side note, is there a way to set the duration for a specific notification through the Plugin API? If this were possible I could simply edit the problematic plugins.
