Mass delete of picture selection

I added most of my pictures at one time. I found this easy to do with the program. I hadn't realized how slow that would make my system. I would like to delete most of them, or clear them and start again. Unfortunately, there seems to be only one way to delete them: one at a time. Is there a way to reset the list?
