Bug Description

Cards that use the ath5k driver reportedly "stutters" and "stalls" (lag spikes) while in use. This has only been reported to be a problem on eeePCs so far.
This has been partially resolved by lowering the transfer rate to 24Mbits; however this isn't a proper fix, just a quick fix till this is properly resolved.

I have recently migrated to ubuntu netbook remix on an eee900 (2gb ram +64gb runcore) and experienced exactly this issue.

I managed to get acceptable wireless performance back by regressing the kernel to 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP
and opening up the rmem settings / manually enabling tcp windows scaling in /etc/sysctl.conf

I can now achieve 8mbps throughput with the stock card - I get better performance in win32 - but I can live with this

I also booted the live cd of karmic koala - detected the wifi card , associated, but wouldnt transfer IP

I hope this gives someone a pointer to whatever is wrong on the eee900, and hope it doesnt throw the debug team off course!

regards
