Bug Description

GTG 0.2.4 allows rescheduling tasks using the right-click menu for today, tomorrow, next week, etc. When rescheduling tasks, it can be convenient to have every day of the week available for the coming week.

Suggest adding "monday,tuesday,...,sunday" to the "schedule for" menu. Patch for 0.2.4 attached.

Hi jazz,

thank you for this patch. There were already similar bugs opened and they were merged in GTG trunk. Please try it:

cd ~
bzr clone lp:gtg

Before merging your patch we should think about it. If we have a lot of options in right-click menu, it became useless. We have to find compromise between having every possible option for scheduling and having simple, usable right-click menu.

Please, try GTG trunk. What is you opinion?

Hi Izidor,

Thanks for your quick reply. I've checked out the 0.3-dev branch, which organizes the right-click menu somewhat differently. The idea, however, would be almost the same: to put all the days of the week under the 'start at' and 'due for' menu items.

The use case here is scheduling tasks for the coming week: I regularly have to postpone tasks a few days. It saves me a lot of clicking if I can directly from the right-click menu indicate the target day. (Keyboard shortcuts may also be nice - just occurred to me)

Cheers,
Jasper.

Hi jasper,

I can see clearly your use case. What about creating menu inside start/end right-click menu? Schedule for this week -> Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | ... We wont have some many possible options and they will be categorized. There are few possible things to think about:
If today is Wednesday, and I get as the first option for schedule for this week as Monday - do I think the last Monday or the next Monday? In what order they should be?

Having keyboard shortcuts for something like this won't be a good idea. It is a pretty specific use case which I would use just a few times in my life. I would not be able to learn that and use on daily basis. However, what about having shortcuts which postpone selected tasks?

For example:
alt+0 => Today()
alt+1 => Today() +1
alt+2 => Today() +2
...
alt+9 => Today() +9

But what about postponing start dates? It is lesser used by me, but sometimes I use that. Use <ctrl>? some people might use that shortcut for global shortcuts like changing a virtual desktop. (Alt works in applications like Firefox and gnome-terminal)
What is your opinion?
