Bug Description
I've installed Ubuntu 11.10 recently. My firm posess HP DesignJet T770 44in plotter which works fine in all Windows distributions but cannot be installed in Ubuntu. I've tried to do so in CUPS and in HPLIP without success. None discover it. My computer is Acer S3-951 (ultrabook - doesn't have ethernet cable jack). I tried to connect it via USB, none discovers it. Does the same on other computer (Ubuntu 10.10, via ethernet cable - defined IP adress), same thing. On my computer in CUPS, i changed location to parallel:
When enter "hp-check -t" in terminal i found that HPLIP doesn't seem to have drivers for my firm's plotter.
Hi,
From the log, it is found that there are many missing dependencies. You can download and install latest hplip-3.12.2 from http:// hplipopensource .com/hplip- web/install/ install/ index.html.
Follow the instructions there in the link. Once installation is done, run in terminal "hp-setup -g" and give us the output.
HP Designjet T770 44in is not yet supported. Just for temporary fix, follow the instructions below.
- Go to the folder where hplip-3.12.2 has been downloaded (e.g. ~/Downloads). Run in terminal :
$ cd ~/Downloads/ hplip-3. 12.2 models. dat &
$ gedit data/models/
(Search for [hp_designjet_ t770ps_ 24in] and copy the whole section and paste in somewhere in the file. Now in the new copied section, change [hp_designjet_ t770ps_ 24in] to [hp_designjet_ t770ps_ 44in] and in model1 = HP Designjet T770 44-in Postscript Printer. Save the file and close it.)
$ make
$ sudo make install
After this, reconnect the printer to the machine. Run in terminal "hp-setup" and it should detect the printer. After setup is complete, you can print.
Let us know if you have any issue in this. Please provide the output of "hp-setup -g" which was mentioned earlier.
