Bug Description
Setup:
Windows, 2010.4.
2 photos taken at different exposures on a tripod, no movement between them. 18mm lens 1.5 crop, (nikon 18-200 at 18, with D80).
The images load correctly, the align process appears to succeed, but the result in the preview window is equirectangular (why?) off center (low), and severely distorted.
This happens with other types of images as well,

Hi, this is a known bug, the Align... function in the Assistant tab is designed for panoramas and doesn't quite work for single stacks (see Bug #679282 (sf-2851956) and Bug #696668).
The workaround is to optimise positions manually using the Optimizer tab.
