Bug Description

It's not obvious what format the URL should have.

I've submitted an idea here: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/2981/ but it will not allow me to submit a launchpad URL of https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/unattended-package-upgrades. Why is this?

I repeatedly receive: "The URL you submitted in the blueprint field does not seem valid."

It is possible I am submitting an actual invalid blueprint URL, but if that is the case, I believe an example should be given to explain to the user what type of URL should appear in the 'Launchpad URL' box.

A blueprint URL must be of this form :
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/<PROJECT>/+spec/<SPEC_NAME>

You are right that we should specify that in the error message and in
the "What is a blueprint ?" window.

Since brainstorm is specifically for the Ubuntu project could we make due with the spec name?

I don't think forcing the URL to /ubuntu is a good idea as we also
have /ubuntustudio and /ubuntu-qa-website (the website itself) which
could have their own blueprint.
Maybe we should default to /ubuntu though so we don't have to put the
whole URL but still can when needed.
