Bug Description

the mptspi module is really old and definitely included in the kernel snap:

$ find /lib/modules/5.4.0-45-generic/ -name '*mptspi*'
/lib/modules/5.4.0-45-generic/kernel/drivers/message/fusion/mptspi.ko

but to boot from such a device the drivers need to be included in the initramfs, Ubuntu core uses a pre-generated initrd so the drivers need to be added there at generation time

the entire converstation can be found on

Seems we have the same problem for uc20, so I filed a related bug there: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-core-initramfs/+bug/1896528
