Bug Description
My workflow often requires me to take a Gimp file and place it in to a vector work created with Inkscape.
Usually I go JPEG from camera -> Gimp, XCF, then export-as PNG -> Inkscape SVG -> Print/PDF/EPS (for print) or sometimes PNG for web.
It's not a big problem but being able to drag in an XCF image, preferably linked, would be a great improvement. That way I could continue to work on a bitmap in Gimp after I'd do a first pass of the Inkscape composition without having to use a PNG intermediate step.
I don't personally require all the image data from XCF (layers and such) just a flattened bitmap composite of the XCF data. Just that the export-as-PNG step seems tedious and unnecessary and the benefit of being able to edit image in GIMP and have the "link" carry the edits over would be great.
Thanks for consideration of my suggestion.
