thin pattern fill "stripes 1:8" disappears in export to PDF

Not reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.3.1, 0.48.4 (Cairo 1.11.2) and trunk revision 12387 (Cairo 1.12.14).

Which software was used to verify the content of the PDF file?

If Inkscape was used for the test, then this is likely the same issue as already tracked in

With stable Inkscape 0.48.x, the pattern-filled objects from the PDF file render partially or not at all depending on zoom level. The version of cairo Inkscape used for the PDF export may also affect how the details of the patterns are rendered (if at all).

I attempted to open with evince and adobe reader on Ubuntu Linux.

Could you please test the three attached PDF files (exported with stable
inkscape, using different versions of cairo), how they display in PDF
viewers on your system?

If I test them with Evince 2.30.3 (on OS X), those created with newer
cairo versions render closer to the original SVG file than the one
created with cairo 1.10.2.

#1. Adobe Reader Firefox plug-in gives 2 bold lines, with 16 thinner lines underneath, with the thinner lines in a gradient from thin to slightly wider to thin again. Evince gives no thinner lines, just the 2 bold ones.

#2. Adobe Reader gives the same as the #1. Evince gives the two bold lines and 16 uniformly thin lines below. All lines are made of 9-12 individual line segments, with some whitespace in between.

#3. Same results as #2.
