Bug Description
Hello,
I've got a request for a new feature in the next Inkcape version. I really miss a generally crop-tool in the toolbar (similar to bug 517082). Every graphic tool has this button (a basic function for withespace is too hidden in the document settings!!) and every new user need this basic function (if new users don't find very basic functionality they give up to use it).
I'm an very experienced user with Inkscape and why I report this is, because I see this functionality one of the most FAQ ever! (And I also remember me as I was the first time trying Inkscape, this was very annoying. I know this functionality would be a bit more complex, but that should not be a reason to left...)
Could this tool be found in a next version please? Would be very nice!
Regards,
Perhelion

Could you please explain more verbosely what you would expect of a “a generally crop-tool” in a vector application like Inkscape?
The referenced bug refers to cropping bitmap images only (i.e. to a concept commonly used in raster graphics editors - vector-based editors crop non-destructively by clipping).
Destructive cropping of vector-based objects is a completely different subject (more related to features requested in other reports like a razor or knife tool (i.e. based on path operations), and far more complex due to the nature of vector-based objects.
"Native" (non-destructive) cropping of vector-based application already exists - it's called 'clipping' (see menu 'Object') .
