Most embedded images corrupted following upgrade to Vivid/Inkscape 0.91

Bug Description
Following update to Vivid and a concomitant upgrade of Inkscape to 0.91, opening my old svg images in Inkscape has caused most embedded images to become corrupted. In some cases, the embedded images appear blurry and similar to images that have been traced over using the trace bitmap command. In other cases, the embedded images are padded with blank space on the periphery. If I attempt to resize this type of image, the blank space expands, while the image itself does not change size. I have attached a sample of both of these types of damage.
Fortunately, the damage is not catastrophic because I had exported my svgs to png prior to the upgrade; however, I would very much appreciate instructions for reversing this destruction of my data.

Known issues: due to changes in Inkscape 0.91, bitmap images imported in older versions of Inkscape might look (and/or behave) differently when opened in Inkscape 0.91.

The extension committed as solution for bug #1357808 allows to modify both relevant attributes for all bitmap images in the current document; it will be included in the next major release (0.92). As example, I'll attach the file 'quarantine.svg' resaved after having applied that extension (with Inkscape 0.91).
