Bug Description

CR requested that I put this in bug report for his/her later reference.

Orig question.
Corel 7 cdr files won't load with fonts yet graphics open properly. I've uninstalleded & re-installed inkscape in hope it would connect with win fonts- no luck (win8.1/64)- any suggestions?

as per CR request
Tried opening, importing as well as D & Drop. Fonts still not recognized or identified as an object. Yet Graphics
did importr correctly. Default font (time new Roman ) set in Inkscape was common default font in Corel files.

Can't open corel7 anymore as recent windows upgrade seems to have crippled it.

Found simple sample with a jpg of original cdr. Perhaps you can see the underlying problem?

Thanks for taking the time to file a report!

Confirmed on Windows 7, Inkscape trunk 14747.
The text exists in the SVG file, but with a vertical offset of about -25610 for a first block of text and -33639 for the second one (zoom out to 8% or less to see them at the top of the document).

Changed in inkscape:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Confirmed

Is that normal & how can I fix it.
Is it a failure of my method of import or selecting the wrong corel version import?

@Ken - No, it's not normal and I'm afraid it's a bug in the CDR import library. We use the same as LibreOffice, and it seems your file is also affected when imported in LibreOffice Draw.
I'm going to check if it's a know issue in the libcdr bug tracker (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=__all__&content=&no_redirect=1&order=Importance&product=libcdr&query_format=specific).

@Ken - Would you allow me to use the files you attached in a libcdr bug report?
