Bug Description

I frequently copy images from Irfanview into Inkscape. This always works fine. I guess it is copying form clipboard?

However, I now have an Inkscape file that crashes consistently when I try to paste an image (from Irfanview/clipboard)

No idea what trigers it. It is only a file with an image, an object, a path and some guides.

I attached subject file

I think the type of what you're pasting is png, thus triggering

(the attached SVG file has an embedded JPEG image (data:image/jpeg) - depending in whether or not pasting an image copied in Irfanview retains the original image format or not, pasting / importing a BMP, GIF or TIF image could trigger bug 1467103).

The situation was as follows: I made a screen print, pasted that in Irfanview, cropped it and wanted to copy paste it.

I don't know how to determine what the file format is of the copied image in such a case. The last saved file format in Irfanview?

However, it could be bug 1467103. Because I could paste the image in a fresh Inkscape file.

I just experimented a bit again and noticed a different behaviour (also screenprint -> irfanview -> Inkscape). Now Inkcape does not crash anymore but simply nothing happens. Also nothing happens when trying to past into a fresh Inkscape document. The image does paste in other applications though.

Not sure if the latter is the same bug or a different issue (as it also happens in a new file)

Does the reported issue still reproduce with latest Inkscape 0.92.0 r15299?

I tested it with the same file and It works as a charm now in 0.92.0 r15299!

Bug #1467103 mentioned earlier was fixed with the 64bit Windows packages of Inkscape 0.92.0, which addresses the crashes on paste/import if certain other image format had been displayed (on-canvas, or as preview in the file dialog) earlier in the current session. I'll link this report as duplicate to bug #1467103.

If other issues mentioned in later comments (nothing happens when pasting bitmap image from clipboard) re-occur with latest version, please file a separate report.

I have the same problem with inkscape for windows 0.92.4
No matter the source of the bitmap, inkscape says "nothing on the clipboard"
Copy-paste of bitmap inside inkscape works and copy-paste of bitmap outside of inkscape works as well but from outside to inside inkscape doesen't work.
