What is currently in does not quite match this request.

The existing feature has multiple views of a single drawing.
Many icon authors need multiple *versions* of a single icon.

That is, an icon at 16x16 might be a single circle, whereas
at 48x48 it might be a complex shape with multiple parts.

SVG can do multiple alternate versions via either the
<switch> or <multiImage> elements.

I closed this request because I believe additional features
would be better handled by a new more detailed request.
Jon Cruz expressed an interest in providing more than is
currently offerred. He is welcome to reopen this request.

I would invite the orginal reporter to let us now how well
the current offering meets his requirements. Should the
reporter require more I would invite him/her create a new
more detailed request, preferably using a logged in account
so that we may ask for more feedback if necessary.

Alan, this RFE is fairly clear and does request functionality we don't
have in Inkscape at the moment. My comment from 2006-10-14 should have
pointed that out. If you still need help understanding the request, ask on
the mailing list or in the Inkscape chat room.

We will probably want to support this via <multiImage> and/or <switch>.
Implementing good UI for <switch> solves the same sort of problem.
