More accurate layers description

Bug Description

Could it be possible to get a more usable view of
layers ? The current layer manager seems to be pretty
simple and don't allow the user to get an insight of
the components belonging to each layer. Actually and if
possible i'm expecting for a layer manager designed
like Adobe Illustrator's one.

The user can't remember for each component the layer it
belongs to, can he ?

More details of what you mean and screenshots of the other
applications might be useful.

I do know the developers did deliberately plan to keep the
Layers dialog to just Layers and not make it into a full
Object view but I'm not sure if that is quite what you are
asking for. (That is not to say I wouldn't mind having a
full Object Tree but bugs asking to turn the layers dailog
inot one have been closed already)
