Bug Description

I like the use of air brushes in drawing, and it's probably the only issue
I realy desire, is an extended range of drawing tools... starting with an
airbrush.

Good job so far with the rest tho'

Inkscape is a vector tool. Airbrushing is better suited to raster based
tools (i.e. Gimp). However, you could mimic the effect by using some blur
and transparency on existing calligraphic objects.

Perhaps an Airbrush tool could be developed that basically is the same
thing as the calligraphy tool, but with blur already added - and other
airbrush specific details... like variable drips.

I'll second tjvigil66's suggestion. I'd love to be able to preset blur
and opacity when drawing with the calligraphy tool.

Thanks, Tim

I don't see why an airbrush tool in vector couldn't work analoguously with similar tools in raster programs, at least the kind of that repeatedly stamps a "brush" object along a path that is being drawn in freehand. In vector, that brush would be a path instead of a bitmap, and when the stroke is finished (mouse button released), all the stamped paths could be automatically unionised into one. Sure enough, you can currently attain somewhat similar effect with pattern along path, but a tool that would create the shape as you draw would allow totally different level and kind on interactivity.

You can also do this now by rapidly hitting space bar when dragging a path (or keeping it pressed, but this produces huge amount of stamps), but there would need to be random changes in size, rotation etc. to make it more useful.
