Request: Animated PNG - APNG 1.0

Please add ability to create and save APNGs. The APNG standard wasn't approved because the the standards committee thought they didn't have enough features. Anything designed by committee is usually cumbersome and big. Look at the thing that they did approve (MNG).
  APNGs are better quality than animated GIFs and not proprietary. As people use them, more browsers will support them.
  Please don't spent time on accommodating animated GIFs. - Thanks.

I know this thread is little bit old and I'm not sure what is the current status of it... but I believe this would increase user base of Inkscape even MORE!

There is this open source project that already assembles APNG files and it was written using C++. The same language Inkscape does. SO maybe it could be shiped together? Or reutilized/incorporated in our project just like popler (to convert raster to vector paths) and numpy? Just an idea!

There are also a couple of extensions that create gifs from layers, I've even adapted one of those for my personal use. It would probably be easy to adapt them to output APNGs.
