Bug Description
Thank you so much for this wonderful tool, which even a computer semi-illiterate such as I can use.
It would be nice if (as in the Dia program) there were a check box to "preserve image aspect ratio" when importing images.

To the original poster: I am unsure what you are saying.
Are you saying that when you import a bitmap image (a TIFF file or such), that the image aspect (i.e. ratio of length to height) is *not* being maintained?
It would be really nice to see examples of the before and after if this is what you are saying.
However, if you are saying that the ratio of length to width is correct, but the total size is too large (or too small), that is a different subject.
I have read that Inkscape uses a 90 ppi size basis for the page. Thus, for example, if you import a 180 ppi TIFF file, then it will appear on the Inkscape page to be twice as large as you expect and then has to be resized.
I have posted a Wishlist Bug #688668 about this.
