Spiro Spline LPE - Sometimes uncontrollable results

Bug Description

Only created/tested example file with SVN rev 18746 on Linux, however I had seen it happen with previous revisions.

Sometimes when using the Spiro Spline LPE, the resulting paths do not make sense. Attached is an example file demonstrating the issue.

If you select the path in the file with the node tool, and hover over it with path highlighting turned on, the issue is obvious... however the cause is not. If you nudge any of the three nodes around using Alt+Arrow keys, you will see it drastically change shape too.

In addition to this, if you copy the path, and paste-in-place, the results change. It seems to continue down for a couple generations too (with the newly pasted path, copy it and paste-in-place again, etc). Interestingly enough though, if you Duplicate the path, it has no issue.

running Windows XP, Inkscape 0.47pre3, I think this particular rendering problem has been fixed, although there are still cases of bad behaviour that can occur.

Hello,
I was searching for another bug and happened to see this. I guess I should have suspected it to be a bug. But I actually like this behavior! Perhaps it would be enough to say that I enjoy abstract art :-)

I like to use the Pen or Pencil in Spiro Spline mode. I set down several nodes, then switch to the Node tool and begin dragging nodes until it "goes wacky". Then I'm left with a random squiggly line, in which I often "see" various interesting things. Then I use other Inkscape tools to emphasize and bring out whatever I see. (Like children seeing a bunny shaped cloud.) (Yes, my inner child :-p) I'll attach a couple of examples, so you get the idea.

I certainly would not want to stand in the way of progress, by asking that this not get fixed. Because of course I understand how this is a problem for others using spiro splines. And I seriously doubt that it could get fixed in such a way to opt in or out of this behavior (not that I really understand anything about what makes it work).

But I just wanted to share that this is one way I use and enjoy Inkscape. Thanks for listening :-)

PS - I'm using 0.48.1 on Win7 Home Prem, 64-bit
