EPS export tested with Inkscape 0.47+devel on OS X 10.5.8:

exporting '100217_ov.svg' to EPS
a) as is
b) vertical line: alpha set to 128
c) vertical line: opacity set to 50%

EPS can't handle opacity -> in c) all content in the EPS file is rasterized, whereas text in a) and b) is exported as text and only the vertical line in b) seems rasterized.
