Bug Description

Hi,
This crash happens using inkscape 0.48 either on Ubuntu 10.04 or 10.10.

To reproduce it, :
- "Draw a Bezier Curve and straight line" > Create a path of any shape, as long as it has a perfectly vertical segment somewhere (either made with Ctrl or not)
- "Edit paths by nodes" > Select the two nodes at the extremities of this vertical segment.
- Move them or bend the segment
- Undo to see the crash.

I tried with Inkscape 0.47 on the same machines and apparently this bug is not there.
Please find attached the backtrace.

All the best,
Arnaud

Could you redo the backtrace with debug symbols for Inkscape installed? In its current form, it doesn't provide useful information about where the crash happens in Inkscape.

There have been several possibly related crashes fixed in Inkscape 0.48.1 - any chance you could test with the current stable release version?

Possibly duplicate of bug #544599 (see its other duplicates which have similar 'steps to reproduce').

I have just tested with Inkscape 0.48.1, it seems fixed. Thank you !

Are you still interested in the backtrace ? How can I install the debug symbols ?

A backtrace could confirm that the reported crash is indeed a duplicate of bug #544599.

See <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash> for more information (I'm not using linux myself, and didn't find dbg packages for Inkscape when browsing the packages online via <http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/> - i.e. unclear to me if it requires to build inkscape from the sources or if there are other resources available on Ubuntu).

Thank you for testing and reporting back. If you agree, we could link this report as duplicate to bug #544599, and in case the crash re-occurs with Inkscape 0.48.1, you could revert the duplicate status any time and try to get a full backtrace with debugging symbols installed.
