pdf "less than" and "greater than" signs are not correctly imported

Bug Description
pdf "less than" and "greater than" signs are not correctly imported.
This occurs whether or not I check the "replace text" option.
I am referring to the signs under "By Hookworm Infection" column heading.
The pdf is correctly displayed using Evince and Okular, but is incorrectly displayed using Adobe PDF Reader.
