PDF import omits LaTeX maths

OS: Ubuntu 11.04

Mathematical symbols generated with pdflatex, such as large brackets and integrals, do not import.

The attached PDF (inkscape -l out2.svg test2.pdf) shows a single large left bracket. The SVG, pasted below, recognizes the correct font, but does not display anything. (The font is available).
