Bug Description

When I save an Inkscape drawing as an EPS, italic (slanted) text is saved as upright, even though I check "convert text to path".

Mac OS 10.5.8
Inkscape 0.48.1 r9760

Does this affect _all_ fonts or only those which do not have an italic font style (separate font file)?

(see comment #5 there - PDF and EPS export are both done with support of the same cairo libs, and equally affected)

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response.

I wonder how I can tell which font has an Italic style?

But, after I posted that report, I continued to edit my drawing and
tried the "Georgia" font. I italicized some text and saved the
drawing as an EPS. This time, the resultant EPS correctly showed
the italicized text. I didn't convert objects to paths within
Inkscape; I just saved the current drawing as an EPS with "convert
text to path" checked.

Regards,
Ryo

E.g. with Font Book (see attached screenshot). The comments in bug #200899 might provide further info.

A workaround (for now): don't use the export option to convert text to path, do the conversion using menu 'Path > Object to Path' for the affected text objects before saving a copy as EPS (don't save the SVG file after saving a copy as EPS because otherwise you won't be able to edit the text as text later on).
