The search function always times out, cannot find anything

Which search function? In the header, General search, Advanced search, Soundex search, Search & Replace?
Can we test on your site? What should we search for there to test?
Have you tested on any other site, such as webtrees demo sites?
Is it the same if logged in or not logged in?
Do you have any errors in your webtrees logs, or your server logs, or on the displayed page?
Do you get a Nothing found result or a blank page?
Have you searched the forum or here for similar reports?
Have you run Administration > Check for errors to see if there are data errors?

Hello,
I have include a picture of the Launchpad frontpage, with an hourglass
denoting where I search from. No othet possibilities are in sight, so
I do not know how else to search.
Not only does that search field time out every time I try to use it,
but Launchpad times out frequently when I try to go to a next page.
All the questions you ask me, like running admin, make absolutely no
sense to me whatsoever.
Translations I can do without to many problems. Anyway, for the time
being I have finished translating, all Dutch text is now correct.

I'm afraid this is a problem with the launchpad site, rather than webtrees. So, there is nothing we can do.

Yes, the site does get busy at times.

But, it is free ;-)

Transifex could be a valid alternative...

Who manages that site? Can I not contact anyone? Fortunately I have
finished translations into Dutch, but there were some things I still
wanted to have a closer look at. But wading through all 4290 something
texts, is a bit too much, so I'll leave it for now.

Is this still an issue for you?

I last checked a couple of days ago. It was timing out roughly one time in four.
Previously, it was timing out four times out of five.

However, I'm afraid I've recently given up - and moved my project's translations off launchpad, due to a combination of this bug and also https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/1186610

For anyone else with similar problems, my solution is to store the .PO files in GIT and use "weblate" to provide a GUI. Not as pretty/friendly as launchpad, but it works.

If it was just my project having these problems, then feel free to close this bug report.
