Give direct "unsubscribe" link for notification e-mails

I think this is a good idea. mpt, what do you think?

We can't make it one click, but we could certainly provide a direct link to the +unsubscribe page. However, this might be more annoying than useful while bug 48860 is unfixed.

I don't think including a link at the very bottom of the email would be problematic at all, and is standard practice on a lot of mass mailing applications.

It would probably also be useful to fix the backend to actually handle the unsubs. Anything with unsubscribe in the subject line or as a word on it's own at the top of a message should result in a 'do you really want to unsubscribe' type message to the submitter, and it the potential unsubscribe not being passed onto the bug subscribers.

The amount of e-mails that simply read Unsubscribe from people trying to unsubscribe from a bug report can be obnoxious. This should help mitigate that problem.

I've created a separate bug for David's suggestion. This is really a huge problem in Ubuntu (and for that matter, will become a huge problem for any large project), especially for beta testers. I would go so far as to say that it is damaging the overall quality of the distro by forcing legitimate subscribers out of the bug reporting and patching process when they are barraged by sometimes hundreds of e-mails from users who are nontechnical, have no interest in participating in the bug reporting process, and for whatever reason lack the intelligence to unsubscribe themselves. I, personally, have had this happen to bugs of interest to me on several occasions.

I've got a branch done that adds a link to the +subscribe page to allow unsubscribing for people who are direct subscribers of a bug or a bug duplicate. So it's not a one-click solution and it doesn't help in the case of implicit subscriptions for a team/bug supervisor or for structural subscriptions on a project. But it is some help for individual subscribers until a better solution can be arranged.

Bug #484319 has been filed about making the recent fix useful for structural and implicit subscriptions.
