Bug Description
If a timed autologin occurs and autologin-session is set in lightdm.conf this session is not used. Instead the default session is used.

Bug 1707187 is about telling the greeter what autologin-session is so it can also make this decision. The default behaviour if the greeter doesn't specify a session should be to use autologin-session.
