*re Linux Mint 17.1 Black screen crash*

I had not switched that machine on in ages .. though I just have.
I've applied all available updates and have just opened chrome and
www.google.com/chrome and it crashed as before.

So it seems there is no update /fix.

U could try loading Linux Mint 16?
